The end of the beginning (and the scaryness of Alan Rickman)

Today wraps up my first ballet session in over two years (read about starting up again here). For the past two months, I have been trying very hard to remember how to move my body in ways it hasn’t moved for a long time. Overall, the progress has been slow, but the rewards tremendous. Even if only for a few hours I week, I can focus solely on myself, my body, my creative mind, my discipline. For several hours IN A ROW. Anyone with a baby around can raise her glass to that one.

I am exploring some more options for the fall as far as dancing goes, and I’d love to get back to teaching as well. What I’d really like though, is for someone to hand me a million dollars and say “Start your own dance comapny.” For now I am happy donning my tights and leotard and heading into the dance studio every week to just be me and work at something I really love.

In other news, Poppy, Jacob and I have started a Harry Potter movie marathon this week. We are halfway into the Prisoner of Azkaban. Surprisingly the only time Poppy gets scared is when Alan Rickman swooshes into the room and says “Turn to page three hundred and ninety four” like twelve times.

Ooh how I love Harry Potter marathons. I could spend many a weekend hours smooshed on the couch with a box of Mike and Ikes and visit with my old friends. I seriously laughed out loud when you quoted “turn to page three hunded and ninety four” I can hear it in my head as I type it. Good times, Good times.
